Historic Sydney homestead makes market debut
Five years after the death of Lady (Mary) Fairfax some of the grand mansions that once made up her vast property portfolio are still being sold off, and the historic Orielton Homestead at Harrington Park is the latest up for sale.
The widow of Sir Warwick Fairfax died in 2017, aged 95, and the crown of that portfolio, her Point Piper home, the 1881-built Fairwater residence, sold a year later for a national house price record of $100 million to tech billionaire Mike Cannon-Brookes.
Orielton Homestead predates Fairwater by almost half a century, although its location on Sydney’s outskirts near Camden will ensure it is a small fraction of the price.
